Customer case | Charles (formerly Cock’s Vleeswaren)
Transferring application knowledge and building out a customer portal
When the in-house programmer of Cock’s Vleeswaren left, DX-Solutions took over the online projects. After a familiarisation track came analysis, technical improvements and the build-out of a large customer portal with purchase incentives and a mobile version for the sales team.

About Charles (formerly Cock’s Vleeswaren)
From Sint-Niklaas, Cock’s Vleeswaren, today Charles, makes artisanal meat products, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern production methods.
Knowledge at risk of disappearing
With the in-house programmer leaving, a partner was urgently needed to take over the existing applications, without interruption for users.
At the same time, the need grew for a customer portal that could actively stimulate customers, and for a mobile version allowing sales representatives to sell on site at the butcher shops.
Within two months our team knew the application inside out.
From handover to customer portal
Our contribution
A takeover with a clear handover
We proposed a familiarisation track and worked closely with the developer at the time. A detailed analysis mapped the state of the system, with concrete action points. After the takeover, we set up version control with Git and a staging environment to test changes first.
We then built out a large and complex customer portal, with purchase incentives for customers: those who reached certain goals, such as revenue or number of visits, could win a trip, for example. Sales representatives received a mobile version to sell directly at the butcher shops while on the road.
Those sales conversations often happen in the large cold rooms of the butcher shop, where there is no network coverage. The mobile application therefore works with local storage: representatives keep working offline and the data synchronises as soon as a connection is available again.
